Viridian X5L Gen 2 (Green Laser)

glock 19 and viridian x5l

The Viridian X5L sits almost flush with the Glock 19. What we like about the X5L is its durable aluminum body contains a 178 lumen tactical light and laser (Green or Red).

The biggest advantage the X5L has is its tight, slim profile when mounted on the G19 as the first-ever tac light & laser comb that hit the market many years ago that also includes programmable modes, which the user can adjust on the fly by pushing the switch buttons from both sides at the same time to cycle between the modes.

Which includes:

  • Strobes + Constant on laser
  • Constant On (Laser & Light)
  • Momentarily On/Off

The only thing we don’t quite like is the screw mounting system, which feels cheap and weak compared to others.

Overall it’s a sick pistol laser + light combo system for G19 or G23 that has been around for a very long time, actually the first of its kind on the market.

NOTE: Viridian offers a special holster for X5L sold separately, which can immediately activate the light & laser upon holster draw.

Surefire XC2 Ultra

The XC2 is SureFire’s smallest, most lightweight handgun light with an integrated <5mW Class 3R red laser. It’s basically made for the Glock 19 for EDC or concealed carry.

If you’re looking for the best weapon light & laser all-in-one package for the Glock 19 or 23, then this is it.

It features a recoil-proof LED that’s focused by a multi-faceted reflector to create our broad 300-lumen MaxVision Beam perfect for illuminating and identifying threats at close range.

It fits flush with the G19 muzzle and weighs just 2.1 ounces, the XC2 is great for everyday concealed-carry.

What makes the XC2 different from other light is the use of just 1 AAA NiMH rechargeable battery (readily available) that lasts just 0.5 hours (~30 mins shorter than other light)

The activation switch sits flush with the G19 trigger guard that works with left and right-handed shooters. It allows the shooter to immediate pushup or down for constant-on, tap/hold for momentarily on-off.

Streamlight TLR8

Streamlight makes some awesome full size and compact weapon lights including the TLR8.

This thing flush fit perfectly on the G19 or the G23 model. It’s super light and compact, which takes only 1 CR123A battery (50,000 hours) that can produce up to 500 lumens with its C4 LED technology.

Streamlight’s TIR Optic produces a concentrated beam with optimum peripheral illumination; optimized electronics provide regulated intensity.

The red laser is the cheaper option built with Class 3R 650 nm, Output <5mW for accurate and fast aiming without a sight picture alignment, which is great for close-range personal defense.

Activation switches are ambidextrous from both sides, the user can activate the light simply by pushing the button.

We highly recommend this product for its size, performance and price, and it’s probably the best for G19 for the money.

Crimson Trace LL-807 LaserGuard Pro

The LL-807 is specific for full size & compact Glocks. It features a 150 lumen LED white light in a single compact unit, which is effective for personal defense without being too dim or too bright.

What we love about this thing is its “under the trigger guard” activation button, which instantly activates the device upon draw without any conscious effort from the shooter at all.

The LL-807 features 4 modes of operation (see below), a Master On/Off Switch, is completely user-installed in moments with no modifications to the gun frame and the laser is user-adjustable for windage and elevation. On just a single CR2 lithium battery, this thing lasts about 2 hours.

Modes of operation include:

  • Laser + Light
  • Laser Only
  • Light Only
  • Laser + Light Strobe

Things To Watch Out For For EDC

Why Use A Flush Muzzle Fit Light?

The benefits of a flush fit weapon light on the Glock 19 are:

  • More Compact
  • Faster Out Of The Holster
  • Less takeup when concealing

Mount Type

There are many different mount designs out there. Most products will ship with an additional 1913 Picatinny rail and universal mount adapters.

For mounting on the Glock, make sure you pick out the mount that fits the rail slot. The favorite mount type is the one the user can manually tighten the screw even if the rail has been worn out.

Lumen Intensity & Beam Pattern

Generally speaking for home defense use, anything above 150 lumens is a great weapon light for the following reasons:

A concentrated / max peripheral illumination weapon light is always recommended because you want to maximize your situational awareness bother peripheral and in the distance in the dark.

The pattern of the LED light beam is another important spec of the light besides the lumen intensity.

  • Flood Beam
  • Spot Beam
  • Reach & Surround Light Beam (Best of both worlds beams)

Beam distance and area of light coverage. A super concentrated light beam may reduce your situational awareness in a tight dark, aka less area and peripheral illumination at closer ranges.

spot beam is focused into a narrow cone for maximum reach but horrible for a conceal carry person who wants to illuminate his surroundings for just 3-5 feet.

The problem with a super concentrated light beam is that you have to move the light away from the attacker’s eye in order to illuminate the rest of his body or surrounding.

flood beam is the wide angle beam that acts like a sun with uniform light distribution throughout the beam, but you’re not getting much distances from it.

A balanced beam has enough concentration to blind and intimidate your attacker, and also give your wide angle illumination for your surroundings.

Custom Holster Weapon Light Fit

When pairing a weapon light you have to get a different holster that can house that unit. Especially with Kydex holsters.

As different profile light mounted on the G19, the retention points will vary from one to the other. So it’s important to find a great holster that can retain it without getting too tight or loose.

There is no way around it. We recommend checking out Trex Arm’s great holster and other ones from Bravo Concealment, Raven and many others.

Activation Switches – Laser & Light

Activation switches are important features that must have great qualities in order to function when you need it and work flawlessly.

It’s the most operated part of the system that must withstand the constant switching on and off, physical wear and tears.

If you get the chance to visit a local outdoor store, be sure to ask the counter guy to show you a demo product and get a feel of the activation switches.

Can you reach it easily? Does it have a tactile feel? Does It work well when wearing gloves? Does it work for left & right-handed shooters?

Those are all important aspects of the product you have to test it out before buying. Once you do, you can buy them online for much cheaper & no tax.

Battery Life

Most compact weapon light and laser combo systems use just 1 CR123A to power the whole thing. CR123A batteries are readily available in your local Walmart, Target and even gas stations. Simply pop the old one out and replace it with a fresh battery.
