There have some confusion among RMSc and RMS footprint on the market. Use this guide to help you narrow down your purchase decision so you will not be confused about them.
RMSc Footprint

The RMSc footprint is a compact version designed for micro and slimline pistols, primarily focusing on minimizing weight and bulk. This makes it an excellent option for concealed carry handguns like the Shield RMSc, which is tailored for everyday carry. The RMSc retains the same hole dimensions but narrower.
The Holosun K footprint may seem to be a completely different footprint but the mounting hole dimensions are the same with two extra front recoil lugs, and two small recoil lug pins. However, any mounting plates with the pins will NOT fit any optic without the pin holes on the bottom.
Interesting Fact, DeltaPoint Pro footprint uses the exact same mounting hole dimensions, but not the length dimension. Technically RMSc or RMS optic can fit on any slide or mount made for DeltaPoint Pro even though it won't be a flush fit or have recoil fence to absorb recoil.
RMS Footprint Size and Fit
The RMS footprint, initially developed with competitive shooters in mind, offers a larger profile suitable for standard and some slim pistols. The Shield RMS is designed to co-witness with standard-height iron sights, providing a seamless transition for those new to red dot technology. However, its broader design can be too large for some thin slides.
Mounting Hole Pattern Compatibility
Both the RMS and RMSc share the same mounting hole pattern, allowing for the flexibility of RMSc optics fitting on RMS slides (though not vice versa). This means RMSc optics like the Swampfox Sentinel can mount on standard RMS slots. However, RMS sights may not fit slimmer pistol slides cut strictly for RMSc optics

Limitations and Considerations
The RMSc's smaller footprint limits it to micro or small slides. For some people they don't mind RMS sticking out on the slide, but for users that want everything to be fit flushed on the slide RMSc is the way to go. On the other hand, the RMS can be too bulky for certain carry guns but fits well on standard and slim pistols.
Socket and Lug Differences
The RMSc features sockets for recoil lugs that are more compact and slightly wider apart than other footprints like Docter, making it more specialized for slim pistols. These slight differences in socket size and placement highlight the RMSc's focus on size efficiency.
