Osight K Green Dot Review

The Osight K just came out with their green dot version and it’s something people have been asking for.

Opening up the box, we get everything we expect to see from osight. We got the screw driver, the manual, a zeroing guide. And the part I’m impressed the most besides the optic is the screw pack.

Whether you use it with osight or other optics. These are some high quality screws i’m keeping as backup.

Overall Construction

Now let’s look at the sight.

So here we have the osight se that came out roughly 10 months ago, and this is the K version. 

Both are rmsc footprint, it’s exactly the same.

No recharging port, so the lens frame stays beefy and that’s honestly what alot of people like.

But what I really want to show you is talk about red vs green. This is no different than the video we made on this channel a few years ago.

Red and green really doesn’t make a huge difference other than your preference.

What really matters here is the dot size. 

The K model with the green reticle is 6 MOA. 6 is big enough for your eyes to see, and most importantly is the sharpness near the edge assuming you have decent vision, and cranking up the brightness won’t immediately glare up the whole dot.

 If not a single 6 MOA dot will still be a bit blurry. 

In that case I recommend going with the SE version that lets you switch between a 32 MOA ring and the s moa single dot.

Under a bright sunny day, you got 10 total adjustments, on the highest setting the dot is plenty to see even when wearing sun glasses, and the glare gets washed out.

Dot Brightness and Emitter

Indoor however, you have to crank down the brightness, so the glare doesn’t appear.

Again, the SE version is the enclosed version, and the K is an open emitter dot.

The sight is mostly recommended for putting on sub compact handguns, but it’s not limited to them since you can use adapter plates, for example stacking a rmr to rmsc conversion plate.

And The same goes for mounting on long guns. You can grab any aftermarket mounts to do it.

The built in iron sight is nice, but I personally never use them. 

The turrets are recessed and i want you to hear the click as I turn them. This is probably the most important spec, and it’s not like one of those you get off Amazon that you have no idea how many clicks you have actually dialed. 

Insane Battery Life

The battery it takes is the cr1630, and it should last up to 70 thousand hours.

Compared to the rechargeable ones? honestly this is way better. plus, the shakeawake can  make it last even longer when you’re sleeping at night.

If you carry it on you all day, i think even then, it will last at least 5 years. I guess I have to make another video in 5 years to see really how long this lasts.

 To put that in perspective, 70 thousand hours is like 8 years that you don’t have to touch.

8 years is a long time for a student to go through high school and 4 years of college. so i say that’s a huge improvement than using the rechargeable cap, which you might even lose it at some point.
