If you are looking for the best red dot for the Walther PDP F-Series guns, please not that the gun features a 20% reduction in slide rack force and a smaller grip circumference, but the optics cut footprint remains the same as the standard PDP.

Before you buy anything:
The F-Series uses the "New Style" (Gen 2) optics cut. When ordering your free plate from Walther (or buying an aftermarket one), ensure it has the recoil lugs.
A common failure point on RMR mounts for the PDP is relying solely on the screws for shear strength. The F-Series slide rack is lighter, but the recoil impulse remains snappy are non-negotiable.
Torque Specs for F-Series Optics:
- Plate to Slide: 15-18 in-lbs (Blue Loctite recommended).
- Optic to Plate: 12-15 in-lbs.
- Note: Over-torquing on the F-Series slide can lead to screw shearing due to the shallow thread depth on the optics pocket.
These optics fit even better on the new version 2 slide with deeper slide cut that feature recoil lugs. To convert your version 1 PDP slide footprint to version 2 here
Holosun HE507C X2 - Best Overall
You must use the Walther #2 plate. On the F-Series slide, we’ve noted that the extra height of the plate + the RMR’s "ears" makes the optic the widest part of the slide.
If you have smaller hands (the reason many choose the F-Series), the side-mounted brightness buttons on the RMR are stiff. Ensure your thumb strength is sufficient for rapid adjustments, or leave it on "Auto."
32 MOA reticle increases shooter's chance to re-center the reticle even if it's slightly off center. Way better than a single dot
The sight lasts over 100,000 hours, Solar Failsafe kicks in even if the battery fails to keep you in the fight longer
The lockout mode eliminates accidental brightness adjustment due to inadvertent button press while conceal carrying
The Shake Awake technology activates the reticle upon motion and turns off when sitting at idle
Specs
- Magnification: 1X
- Reticle: 1 MOA, 32 MOA ring, or combined
- Turret Value: 1 MOA / Click

- Battery Life: 3 - 4 years
Pros
- Much more affordable than Trijicon RMR
- Uses RMR footprint
- Long battery life + motion sensor aviation + solar power
- No sight removal required for battery swap
Cons
- Visible distracting logo
- Open emitter design attracts debris
- Solar power doesn't work indoor
Holosun 509T X2 - Best Weatherproof
The new Holosun 509T X2 is a closed emitter red dot to prevent debris from entering the optic either in the field or carrying concealed under clothing
32 MOA Reticle + 2 MOA dot - Same reticle system as 507C, 508T and 507K (But without 32 MOA only mode)
Battery Lasts A Long Time – Just like the Holosun 507C recommended above. Long battery life + Solar Failsafe to keep the sighting system operational
Clamp Mount - Tighter and much more secure mount on the Walther PDP
Titanium Durability – Increased main body durability to handle heavy recoil impulses and rough slide racking against hard surfaces.
Motion Activated Reticle – Shake Awake technology just like Holosun 507C
Specs
- Magnification - 1X
- Reticle - 2 MOA + 32 MOA Ring, or 2 MOA dot
- Adjustment - 1 MOA / Click

Pros
- Closed emitter design to keep debris away
- Strong lens frame from top to bottom
- Much tighter mount platform
Cons
- Requires special mounting plate
- Slightly blocky look
Trijicon SRO - Largest FOV
Recommend using shorter RMR screws or send to CHWPS for slide modification
On the PDP F-Series, the SRO hood comes very close to the ejection port. During our testing, we found that while it doesn't usually cause FTEs (Failure to Eject), carbon buildup on the front lens happens significantly faster than on a standard RMR.
Easier To Find The Dot - Slightly enlarged upper portion of the window significantly increase dot acquisition speed even if the grip angle was off
Top Loading Battery Access - Improved user experience, access battery without removing the sight or re-zero the sight
Specs:
- Magnification: 1X
- Reticle: 5 MOA option is the best
- Turret Value: 1 MOA / Click
