Based on my in-depth research and hands-on experience, the a large dot reticle works extremely well for users with astigmatism, and to acquire the dot fast. My favorite is the Holosun ACSS vulcan, which allows me to reacquire the dot if lost in the window.

For medium range shooting the 5.7mm can definitely deliver a flat bullet trajectory, therefore a smaller dot as small as 1 or 2 MOA works well.

Trijicon RMR - Best Durability

The Trijicon RMR is the predecessor of the SRO. This is the gold standard red dot sight for pistol use, and many users choose this one for duty carry and range use.

The ruggedized lens frame diverts impact stress away from the glass much better than the Trijicon SRO's thin circular glass frame, and thus it's a much better choice for duty carry.

Besides that, the RMR is an open emitter red dot sight with plenty of dot sizes to choose from. 6 MOA is our favorite for pistol use.
