Why Javelot Tac Is So Different
Following the release of Olight Odin series lights, the new Javelot Tac has new features that stand out:
- One piece body design with integrated scout mount
- More throw
- MODLITE PLHv2 type beam pattern
If you're a Odin users that want a tighter beam pattern, The Javelot Tac is the light you have been looking for!
Core Features
Beam Pattern, Lumens & Candela
The Odin Javelot Tac has an upgraded beam pattern similar to products like MODLITE PLHv2 and Cloud Defensive REIN. The throw performance is now in the 80K-90K candela range to compete with most new lights on the market.
This means the user can use this light for long range PID as far as 400 - 600 yards much better than using the Olight Odin.
Very tight hot center for large profile target ID
The Olight Javelot Tac light beam is very tight and consistent for about 400 meters before it dims off even if the spec says up to ~670 meters. For indoor applications, this light provides plenty of flood and throw in a home or warehouse.
Outdoor Tests Comparison (Fully charged batteries)
This is the original Olight Odin mini beam pattern - Mostly a flood beam. Hard to PID around the tree lines
This is the Olight Javelot Tac - More throw. The user can clearly see behind the tree lines
We put the Olight Javelot Turbo next to the factory Surefire M600DF, and the difference is huge in terms of beam performance
It's very clear that the new Javelot Tac is definitely the winner for mid to long range PID. There is no doubt that it's suited for a tactical carbine for hunting and home defense use.
Default Surefire M600DF light head (Fully charged battery)
The Surefire M600DF is a good light, but the factory light head beam pattern just sucks when compared to this.
To upgrade your SF M600DF, please get the MODLITE heads here
Combat Photonic Barrier (This is very important)
The 88K candela rated beam is also very powerful at overpowering incoming lights..
For example, if we pointed a Surefire X300U (11300 cd) towards the cardboard target with a MODLITE PLHv2 (54K cd) shining the light back. It was very difficult to PID what's behind the light in this situation.
In the next test, The Javelot Tac is directly pointed at the light source and lit up the target behind. This is a key point to understand about a high candela light.
High candela light beam can penetrate through fog, overpower incoming lights, street lights and other light sources in the distance.
Heat Protection
Heat protection system however is still built into the Javelot Tac just like other Olight products. This means the lumen intensity will drop from 1000 lumens to 500 lumens after 6.5 mins of constant on use.
It will run on 500 lumens for 78 mins, then drop down to 200 lumens for another 19 mins.
Modes
The Olight Javelot Tac features standard control switch as most Odin light products.
- The tail cap activation with constant on/off & momentary
- Remote control switch with constant on/off & momentary
Activation Switch Ergonomics
The Javelot Tac uses the same tail cap and remote control switch as ODIN, WARRIOR 3 and ODIN TURBO. They are easy to use and mount.
The brand new magnetic remote switch can be locked on the tail cap to prevent disconnection.
Battery Endurance
The Olight 18500 battery is recharageable, and the new USB charging cable is black color instead of blue.
Construction Quality
The Olight Javelot Tac now has a one piece body design with an integrated scout mount. It works with most scout light mounts on the market and it's beefed up so much more than the original design on the Odin.
QD Mount
The WMA2-OD2P mount allows quick detach of the light, but to mount the light, a tool is still required.
For most experienced users, please go with the aftermarket light mount.
