Initial Impression
This thing is just rock solid. I don't think there is any other high quality 4X red dot magnifier at this price range.
The spring tension on the side flip is sturdy and tight to go on any carbine top rail.
The package comes with 2 riser plates for raising the scope height for better cheek weld position or leave it as is based on the ergonomics of your rifle.
Sig Sauer Juliet 4 Main Application
Mid - Long Range target identification and zeroing
Paired with EOTECH EXPS3
Better target ID and finer dot aiming placement especially when using a 1 MOA dot.
Just tuck the magnifier to the side and use the 1X red dot.
The Sig Juliet 4 extends the range for a 1X reflex red dot sight to hit mid targets.
Improved Zeroing Process
Finer red dot zero when your reticle is magnified for a better view
The glass is top-notch. If the red dot sight is tinted, the shooter will see that tint. If it's not, the view is very clear.
Before reviewing any magnifier glass, we always adjust the diopter ring to focus the image for the shooter's eyes first. The target image must be clear. The user doesn't have to get the perfect clarity, but it helps.
The diopter is hidden under the lens cover cap. Just remove it and get access to the ring dial.
~ 724 ft (241 yard)
The 4X magnification is not much different than a 3X magnifier, and it's is a great tool for positive target identification during the day and night.
As long as the diopter ring is adjusted relative to the shooter's eye sight, it's good to go!
Eye Relief
The eye relief on the Sig Sauer Juliet 4 is very flexible but it can be a little better.
Since the eye relief on the Juliet 4 is about 4.2", it may not be a good choice for shooters who like to mount their red dot sights more rearward because it pushes the magnifier more back. It will force these shooters to readjust their cheekweld positions.
For those users, we recommend going with a more compact magnifier like the Vortex Micro 3X.
The outer body frame obscures lot of the shooter's POV.
Move a bit back, or move a bit forward will not induce too much scope shadow.
Comparing it to Holosun HM3X. Even though it's a 3X but its body frame appears to be very slim behind the optic at a good eye relief distance.
Since it's a 4X magnified optic, the shooter still needs to place the eye inside the eye box, and keep centered as much as possible. Otherwise the scope shadow will occur.
Build Quality
Can be tucked to the right
Can be tucked to the left
When you pick it up, it feels like a $700 optic, but it's just under $350. It truly does feel like a expensive product.
QD Mount
The QD throw lever doesn't stick out, so you can easily grip the charging handle.
It's best to keep space between the charging handle and the QD lever when it's closed. Use a big charging handle latch.
You can find more AR 15 charging handle options
Final Verdict
Pros
- Best 4X magnifier on the market (Can't find anything else close to this)
- Extra zoom for zeroing a 1 MOA dot with much finer aim at an effective range
- Great glass clarity
- Very slick looking with most red dots
- Very rock solid QD mount that include dual recoil lug to lock tight on the top rail
- Mount risers included
- See through lens cap included
Cons
- Magnification feels similar to a 3X and it has a much longer body
- May not work well with long length red dots
- Not compatible with other aftermarket mounts (Doesn't work with Unity Tactical FTC magnifier G33 mount)
